State Fair of Texas $4 Wednesdays, Thrifty Thursdays and Weekends!

Bring 4 cans of food for donation to State Fair gates any Wednesday of the Fair and receive a coupon for a $4 admission ticket. Enjoy the Fair for just $4 and help stock the North Texas Food Bank. One (4 can) donation per person. Discount may not be combined with any offers. If you’re going on a Thursday, check their website and the MAP/GUIDE onsite for great deals.

AT&T RED RIVER SHOWDOWN @ Cotton Bowl

The University of Oklahoma and The University of Texas will once again do battle in the Cotton Bowl (during the State Fair of Texas) for the bragging rights of the Red River. Be a part of this fun filled weekend in Dallas centered around one of the Big 12 Conference’s strongest rivalries. Bishop Arts Wine Walk; Shop, Eat, Drink, PINK!

Head down to Bishop Arts for their Shop, Eat, Drink, PINK! Wine Walk featuring a fabulous commemorative PINK wine glass.
If you bought tix online, have your email confirmation ticket handy and your ID when checking in. Check-in begins 1 hour prior to the event start time which is 5pm. There will be three different tent locations, your tent number and location will be on your ticket; please go to your designated tent for check-in.
TICKETS ON SITE: If you do not prepurchase a ticket, limited glasses will be available for purchase at TENT 1. Sales will start at 5pm. Cash only for the glasses. Shop Eat Drink PINK Wine Glasses are $40 if you purchase at the event. Please remember to bring your ID. You will not be able to purchase multiple glasses. One glass per body and ID present.
Your ticket includes: your purchased glass, a wine walk participant wristband, free wine samples at participating shops, and a list of all participating shops.

Camp Craig Allen 9th Annual BBQ Cook-off & Festival Oct 7-8 , 2016
Friday (10/7) 5-11pm (21+ kick off party)
Saturday (10/8) 10-7pm (All Ages)
75 amateur BBQ teams will roll into Frisco, TX at Toyota Stadium for the 9th annual amateur BBQ Cook Off fundraiser for Camp Craig Allen. This is the largest amateur cook off in North Texas and just named Best BBQ for A Cause for 2016 in North Texas! All proceeds go to directly support Camp Craig Allen, a non profit organization raising money for those of all ages with a physical disability, including Veterans. Friday night Oct 7th is the kick off party starting at 6pm geared for adults which includes a full casino, live bands, BBQ Dinner and fun.

Celebrate Columbus Day weekend at the Dallas Arboretum with special guest sculptor Gary Lee Price and a plethora of activities including our annual children’s concert with family-favorite Eddie Coker on the Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn, children’s activities in the Pumpkin Village and live group sculpting int he Pecan Grove with Sculptor Gary Lee Price.
Come enjoy a walking tour, lecture and live group sculpting in the garden with Gary Lee Price. Join Price in the Pecan Grove for hands-on group sculpting Saturday and Sunday, 1:30 – 3:30 pm.

First Fridays @ Sci-Tech Discovery Center

First Fridays @ Sci-Tech Discovery Center and their MakerSapce sponsor Raytheon have kicked off a new program for veterans called First Fridays. The first Friday of each month (from 6-8 p.m.) is an opportunity exclusively for vets to visit the MakerSpace at Sci-Tech. All you need is military ID to get in for free, and you can enjoy intro and advanced programs, as well as open maker time. Programs include woodworking, metalworking and soldering electronics.
