Get ready for a jam-packed weekend! There are some really great events going on in the next few days that you don’t want to miss! Comic Con Fan Days is this weekend – complete with celebrity sci-fi guests and great cosplay! Nelly will be at the State Fair, Parktoberfest in Dallas, see Star Wars THE FORCE AWAKENS and the Dallas Symphony outside while the weather is nice and catch the amazing butterfly migration. And that’s just a few cool things to start with! Whew! You’re going to be busy – better grab a Snickers.

Movies in Main Street – Star Wars THE FORCE AWAKENS

Downtown Dallas, Inc. is excited to announce a new partnership with Alamo Drafthouse Dallas, bringing a family-friendly film series to Main Street Garden (1902 Main Street) in the heart of Downtown with Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens. Festivities for each movie will start at 6:00 p.m., and the films will roll at sundown. Moviegoers are welcome to bring picnic blankets, lawn chairs, and of course, their favorite furry friends. Concessions and beverages, including beer and wine, will be available for purchase. Don’t miss out on meeting Stormtroopers from the 501st Legion, DJ Darth Fader, a lightsaber giveaway to the first 30 attendees, and a Star Wars coloring station before the movie begins.

Dallas Symphony Orchestra – Concert in the Park
Oct 15 at 7PM, CenterPark Garden

NorthPark Center invites you to experience the acclaimed Dallas Symphony Orchestra live in concert performing Tchaikovsky’s magnificent Symphony No. 4 led by Music Director Jaap van Zweden. Open seating in CenterPark Garden, free admission. Please bring your own blanket or lawn chair. No outside food or drink allowed. In the case of inclement weather, the concert will take place in NorthCourt.

Enjoy grab-and-go snacks for purchase from the Bread Winners Café and Bakery coffee bar, Green House Market a la carte and La Duni’s Coffee Studio. Fuzziwig’s will offer an assortment of sweets for purchase as well.

Let’s not forget that once October hits, the holiday season jumps all up on us. The first shopping event is the Junior League of Fort Worth’s Christmas in Cowtown. The Christmas in Cowtown Holiday Gift Market was established in 2007 and this year celebrates the 10th Anniversary. The proceeds from the Market allow JLFW to create a positive impact in the community through their programs and projects. Get a head start and shop from their wide range of merchants. 4th Annual South Street Art Festival in Arlington

The 4th Annual South Street Art Festival Presented by Downtown Arlington and takes place on South St. between Mesquite and East St. in Downtown Arlington. 80 local, regional and national artists line both sides of South St with booth after booth of quality affordable art. This year’s festival will feature a craft beer garden with up to 10 local DFW breweries being represented. The craft beer garden will be located at the intersection of South and East St.

Fall Round-UP Nash Farms in Grapevine

Experience life on the farm at the 16th Annual Fall Round-Up at Grapevine’s historic Nash Farm, 626 Ball St. Admission is free but some activities require a participation fee. Celebrate the harvest season with our annual family-friendly event. Activities include heritage toys, kitchen gardening, farm animals, wagon rides, wood carving demonstrations, jump rope making, wood stove cooking and a new Family Pie Making Station. Pumpkin decorating is sure to delight children of all ages. Registration is not required and all ages are encouraged to attend. Coupons can be purchased for activities that require a fee. Concessions are also available.

Butterfly Flutterby in Grapevine

Bring the entire family, even your pets, to celebrate the migration of the monarch butterfly from Canada to Mexico by way of Grapevine. The 19th Annual Butterfly Flutterby is a free, family-friendly event and will be held at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens. Butterfly Releases will take place at 10:45 a.m., 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in the Grapevine Botanical Gardens. The day begins with a Butterfly Costume Parade at 10 a.m. After the parade, participate in butterfly crafts, butterfly exhibits, the Migration Station, interactive games, a scavenger hunt, face painting and other activities in the Botanical Gardens. Refreshments are available for purchase.

Bring 4 cans of food for donation to State Fair gates any Wednesday of the Fair and receive a coupon for a $4 admission ticket. Enjoy the Fair for just $4 and help stock the North Texas Food Bank. Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel – The Exhibition

The Women’s Museum Building at Fair Park

This unique exhibition recreates one of the world’s greatest artistic achievements, Michelangelo’s renowned ceiling frescoes from the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel, reproduced photographically and artfully displayed in their original size and displayed as 34 reproductions on 16-foot panels. This innovative interpretation of the timeless masterpieces can be viewed up close, including The Creation of Adam and The Last Judgment, in its original size a towering 41 feet high. Making its American debut at the State Fair of Texas, the exhibition previously made stops in Montreal, Canada, and Vienna, Austria.

This year’s event will highlight the “Art of the Pumpkin.” The Imaginative Pumpkin houses with over 90,000 pumpkins, gourds and squash, along with 150,000 beautiful fall blooming plants. Don’t miss this amazing festival and be ready to light up insta with your genius photos.
